Along with the lasting information age revolution in the21stcentury as well asthe rapid development of information processing technology, multimedia information isin explosive growth. The reliance on traditional manual labeling and manual retrieval isfar from being able to meet people’s requirements on the retrieval of multimediainformation data. Since the establishment of this unit, a large number of news and videodata have been accumulated. The original system can’t meet the requirements on datadistribution and storage, data transfer, video retrieval, version control, etc. in daily work.Therefore, this unit urgently needs to design and develop a set of video datamanagement system independently. This essay combines the actual workingrequirements of video processing trade for achieving the rapid retrieval of documentssuch as video, realizing the rapid working efficiency, and improving the taskperformance of the whole video processing trade.The research purpose of this topic is to confirm a video data management systembased on NET Technology through the current requirements of this unit on video datamanagement. The functional demands of the system include the management onuploading and downloading, data transfer, data retrieval, version control, etc., in which,the management on data retrieval is designed and realized by adopting the content-basedretrieval and is achieved through such procedures as shot segmentation, featureextraction and index establishment. Distributed file system is adopted for the access oflarge-scale video documents.The realization of video data management system is based on the NETTechnology provided by Microsoft Corporation and Oracle Technology of OracleCompany, with the development tool of Visual Studio2005. Upon arrangement, testingand operating, it is confirmed that the design and realization of this system haveachieved the expected purpose, realized the users’ requirements of this unit, and caneffectively improve the working efficiency of this unit on video data management.Besides, this system has reference value for the management of other videos aboutmedicine, weather forecast, etc.
