As the piped gas’s growth and universal, mostly family get the gasthrough the pipeline and install the domestic gas meter which is used tomeasure how much gas the family has used. However, regardless of vacuumequipment or pressure devices, the leakage is inevitable. Which will lead toworse performance, shorter service life of gas meter and result in wasting ofenergy and money and polluting, or even worse, lead to explosion andendanger the lives. Thus, a safely and effectively air leakage detection of thegas meter is of great significance.As one of the important means to ensure the quality and safety, the leakdetection technology has been widely used in industry and daily life.Currently, the leak detection methods are mainly including bubbles,penetration and chemical tracer, ultrasonic, helium mass spectrometry, flowmethod and pressure changed method etc. The methods above have their owncharacteristics, as well as the shortcomings such as the quantitative detectioncan’t be achieved, or lack of precision or cost too much. The pressurechanged method is more suitable in order to improve the detection accuracyand efficiency and achieve the automatic detection, which can be divided intothe direct pressure method and the differential pressure method.The direct pressure method, with compact structure and wide measuringrange and simple principle, is selected in this system on the analyzing andcomparing of the methods above. The leakage rate is calculated aftermeasuring the changed pressure of the workpiece by the differential pressuretransmitter and comparing with the permissible leakage, then judge whetherthe gas meter is qualified or not. It is controlled by the main and auxiliarysystems in the form of hierarchical. The former is formed by the control core,display system, the keyboard module and the communication module, whichis mainly responsible for inputing the relevant parameters, display ing, savingand sending the parameters to the auxiliary system. The auxiliary system iscomposed by the control core, display system, the signal collection module,power drive module and the communication module, which is mainly control and alarming, etc.The experiments and application results show that the system can carryout the air leakage detection of the gas meter effectively and With thecharacteristics of high detection efficiency, good flexibility and high degreeof automation.
