Liaocheng Unicom Broadband Metropolitan Area Network Optimization

As the main telecommunication company in Liaocheng, Liaocheng Unicom has the most professional team who has the richest network maintaining experience than the other operators. Therefore, there are more than300,000users to choose Liaocheng Unicom to provide them with the Internet, VPN services. Now, however, Liaocheng Unicom encountered difficulties-the business downturn and a growing number of customer complaints.What causes the above situation? In order to clarify this problem, our current business and network have been analyzed in detail. Finally, we discovered the cause of the problem. Today, with the advances in information technology, communication service is developing towards broadband, IP and multimedia. At the same time, while broadband metropolitan area network suitable for the transmission of traditional Internet business, it can not effectively carry real time communication and other services. And interference and resource competition between different applications, which exist in Traditional broadband metropolitan area network, exacerbate decline in the quality of service. So Liaocheng Unicom is made to face such dilemmas by the contradiction between the weak functionality of broadband metropolitan area network and the growing user demand for new services.In order to resolve this conflict, we need to do something in the network optimization. It is the focus of this paper that what we can do for optimizing network. This paper focuses on the Liaocheng Unicom to optimize the network structure, export of broadband, QoS, network management, network security and important service bearer. In the process of network optimization, emerging technologies, such as QinQ,10G Ethernet, EPON/GPON, DiffServ, MPLS, are used in order to make network structure and service bearer more reasonable. In the network, sound strategies of link and IP are run so that network security has been strengthened. Based on the optimized MAN, the carrying scheme of NGN and IP RAN also is developed and implemented in this paper. With the implementation of the program, MAN will eventually be moving toward integration with bearer network of NGN. On network operation and maintenance, a number of innovative ways are proposed. Through these methods, we not only make full use of existing network resources, but also save the capital investment.Through the network optimization, Liaocheng Unicorn’s MAN has a reasonable structure and stable network. Also, QoS capabilities, manageability and scalability are improved. In the past six months, there are no failures which are caused by structure or design. Indicators, such as the rate of complaints, have been decreased significantly. From these we can be sure that the network optimization is safe and effective.
