With the increase of communication capacity and modern society’s dependence on communication, survivability of optical network has become a crucial problem. Optical cable is tend to be affected by outside force, the probability of optical cable’s fault is high. This paper aims to monitor optical fiber’s loss in real time, find fault instantly, switch working optical path to protection path, restore communication in a short time.The major research work of this article include:(1) Summarize survivability technology of optical network. Research the major technology of optical path switch protection system.(2) Analysis of TJUNC long distance transportation, considering loss,dispersion,signal to noise ratio,optical supervisory channel etc.,design protection scheme base on optical path switch protection system.(3) Realize of optical path switch protection system.(4) Explore on the maintenance of optical path switch protection system.(5) Provide test scheme of optical path switch protection system and implement.The design of the optical path switch protection system that presents in this paper has been put into practical operation after implementation of the project and testing functional, this design achieves the original design requirements. The system has been maintained according to the method that this paper provide. It provides a good means of protection for TJUNC’S network, improves the network survivability and achieves the desired results.
