Virtual Reality Technology develops rapidly, which applies to electronic commerce, medicine, military training, education training and other fields, and creates huge economic benefits. Among them, the combination of virtual reality technology and the high school teaching creates virtual experiments, which are traditional experimental simulation, and play a great role in promoting the teaching of high school physics.So far there is about the research of virtual experiments. On the one hand, many of them stay in the2D stage. We should see,3D virtual experiment can help students build better immersion, interaction and situation in learning process. On the other hand, there is a lot of research only for its creation, but it ignores how to link with the teaching of high school subject better. At the same time, in the teaching of high school physics, inquiry teaching plays an important role in promoting students’study. Therefore, the research for combining3D virtual physics experiments and high school inquiry teaching is very educational.This paper first introduces general situation of virtual reality technology and its development situation applying to education. Next it researches two based theories. One is about inquiry physics experiment teaching in high school. The other one is the combination of virtual reality technology and education, and it relates the connection of the virtual reality technology and contemporary psychology theory. Then it introduces some virtual reality development software which are suitable for education. Among them it specially discusses Virtools and EON. Taking "Horizontal Projectile Motion" virtual experiment as the example, it detailedly explains virtual experiments’development process which bases on the3Ds Max and Virtools. At last, it carefully describes the specific application in high school physics inquiry teaching.Finally, the paper summarizes this study, and looks forward to the future work.
