As the high speed transmits rate, good secrecy, laser space communication is becoming more and more focus of attention. But as the communication is operated in a relatively high speed state, to ensure the stability of communication link, we must establish a set of acquisition, tracking and pointing system (APT).In this paper, firstly, we introduce the effect of atmosphere to laser space communication, and then we analyze the principle of APT system. According to the requirement of high dynamic and high precision tracking in space laser communication, we focus our research on laser spot tracking system. We general design the coarse tracking system and the precise tracking system. We mainly compared some commonly used spot detection algorithm, put forward the concrete implementation plan of control system, image processing element, control execution and feedback element, use DSP to show the spot image and the process results, and analyze the tracking influence factors. At last, we simulate the precise tracking system and the step response curve before and after adjustment, we also give the result of the frequency characteristic curve of the system.
