As a new type of feed drive, Linear motor direct drive technology completelyeliminates the range of adverse effects that arise from the traditional rotary motioninto linear motion part, greatly improves the positioning accuracy and plus/minusspeed of the feed system and have a wide range of application in industrial, military,aerospace and other fields. Based on the industrial Ethernet, the motion controllernot only has the high-speed CPU processing power, multi-axis control andsynchronization performance, but also has the high-speed, reliable, stable andlong-range communications technology which meets modern industrial automationdevelopment trends. With the gradual development of control system direction tothe Ethernet control system, the Ethernet control technology for multi-axis linearmotor takes a certain significant place.The Yaskawa linear servo motor applications in the visual inspection ofsurface defects platform was taken as an example in this paper to introduce theindustrial Ethernet control technology of multi-axis linear servo motors. Theperformance and control manner of linear servo unit were analyzed and thearchitecture of Ethernet control system of multi-axis linear motor was discussed.Based on the system architecture, the platform can be used for defect detection. Theimplementation of Ethernet control of the Yaskawa multi-axis linear servo motorwas discussed, including the initialization of the system and compiling of themotion program. HMI, motion controller and computer composed a local areanetwork and established communication links between devices, then accomplishremote control of multi-axis motor, examination of real-time operation, handling ofalarm function, etc.
