| At the end of2007, the International Herald Leader, edited by the Xinhua NewsAgency, conducted a survey, facing all Chinese netizens, for their impressions of theneighborhood country. The four-month survey collected the responses from12,000netizens and readers of the International Herald Leader. Indicated by the survey result,Korea has became the most annoying country over Japan (with respect to the question of"which nation do you not like", the answer of "Korea" is at the top，up to40.1%). Thissurvey enlightens the author to write this paper. Do the Chinese netizens really feel awfulabout Korea? If the answer is un-doubtful, how this negative impression embodies andforms, what are the reasons as well as the background behind, and by which means wecan ease this negative emotion thereby stabilized the relationship between China andKorea? The thesis aims to answer the questions above by studying the discourse relatedto Korea and given by Chinese netizens.The web forums, where the netizens’ discourse gathered, compared with otherinternet applications, are more representative. Based on sampling the posts regarding toKorea from Tianya community forum, the thesis summarized, such as cultural argumentis the concentration, emotional resistance to Korea is the tone, etc., totally15maincharacteristics involved with Korea-related discussion, by the way of content analysisand text analysis of the posters and followers. By combining the relationship betweenChina and Korea, cultural argument, feature of netizens and cyber nationalism, etc., thepaper also analyzed the causes of the typical characteristic of Korea-related discourse.Finally, based on these causes, the thesis tries to put forward the possible approaches tocushion such resistance to Korea. |
