Ad Hoc Network is a special kind of wireless self-organization networks, whichhas characteristics of fast organized network, simple protocol, good survivability, distributed topology, and low energy consumption. Therefore, it has good prospects, butaccording to the research in recent years, the widely used TCP protocol in the wirednetwork can not be well applied to Ad Hoc Network, because that packet loss in thecable network is attributed to the congestion. In the wireless network packet loss is notonly because of congestion, but also is related to the high error rate in wireless networks, interference, channel competition and failure in routing node. TCP can not distinguishpacket loss which are handled as congested, thus cause the decline of the TCPperformance in Ad Hoc Networks. It is a an urgent problem currently that how to solve the performance degradationof TCP in Ad Hoc network. At present, the main research directions to improve the TCPperformance of the Ad Hoc network is focused on using route information toimprove the performance of TCP and to modify the MAC protocol to improve TCPperformance. This paper focuses on analysis of various performance indicators of the TCP in AdHoc Networks. It simulates the affect of hidden nodes and exposed nodes on TCPperformance and the affect of the different routing protocols on the TCP performance, describes and analyses the occurrence of the congestion phenomenon, and introducesseveral main TCP congestion control algorithm at the same time,we analyze andcompare the performance of different routing protocols in Ad Hoc Networks, improveExtensive practical AODV routing protocol which makes more suitable for Ad HocNetwork, simulate to compare the differences between the original and the improvedAODV protocol. The experimental results show that the improved protocol performancehas been improved.
