3D design is the key point of digital products, which helps to bring ideals into reality.It is really difficulty to fulfill the requirements of quick modeling, easy editing andmulti-CAD data exchange and interoperability for the two main existing technologies, thehistory-based parametric featured modeling system and the history-free or explicitmodeling system. A new innovative solution for3D design named synchronoustechnology is provided in this thesis after the comprehensive analysis of the twotechnologies mentioned above and the research on several important technologies of3Dmodeling.The representation of product model influence the performance of a3D modelingsystem significantly. A solid representation is created that fits to the synchronoustechnology after encapsulating the representation of geometric model that the geometrickernel ACIS adopted to a higher level rationally. The hierarchical model based on treestructure in company with two dimension linear list is chosen as the representation ofassembly after the comparison between the three main representations of assembly.In order to combine the speed and flexibility of the explicit modeling and the precisecontrol of parameterized design, a improved architecture and several measure is necessary.A architecture based on the geometric kernel ACIS and the3D constraint solver LGS3Dis constructed and some new technologies such as synchronous solve engine, set offeatures, procedural features, live rules and3D diving dimensions is adopted accompany.Then several means of CAD data exchange and interoperability through synchronoustechnology are listed for the customs.Considering the drawbacks of the assembly model based on geometry elements in thefollowing motion analysis and simulation process, a assembly model based on joint fromthe perspective of kinematics and dynamics is put forward.11typical connections areextracted from the mechanical products, and the related constraint and degrees offreedom is discussed at the same time.As an application of the above research, a CAD software system with synchronoustechnology named InteModel with independent intellectual property rights has beenaccomplished. It is developed in the environment Visual Studio2008, with the help of geometric kernel ACIS,3D constraint solver LGS3D,3D application framework HOOPS,MFC extension framework library BCGControlBar and STL. Generally speaking, itrealizes the function of sketch module, feature module, edit module, dimension moduleand assembly module and achieves the goal of rapid design.
