In recent years, the design the project is developed prosperously. Because the quality ofthe design project management impacts whether the outcome of the final design orconstruction phase is success or failed, it becomes the main research content about how tomanage design project efficiently, protect data securely, coordinate team members’ designwork conveniently, and extend the system easily and flexibly to satisfy user continuallychanged requirements.The traditional design project management system lacks of high level abstraction on thestage of detailed design and software architecture. For example, when design data base,mapping the entity relationship to data base tables directly which lead to the system cannotmeet user continually changed requirements and lacks of scalability.Most of the design project management systems use workflow to manage the whiledesign process. Workflow management separates the design process to several well definedtasks and assigns them to different users according to the access control model so that it couldprevent unauthorized access and improve the security. It’s complex to create and implementworkflow access control model. System access security is continually improved from theearly Role-based Access Control model, Task-based Access Control model, Task Role-basedAccess Control model to the most recent Instance Group and Task-Role-based AccessControl model. Although the access control model is continually improved for differentenvironments, it’s still unable to satisfy the requirements of access control at the design stage for design project management system.Meanwhile, the goal of the design project management system is to ensure that the designproject is completed on time with high quality via various project management techniques;the most important aspect is to track the progress of the project. But most design projectmanagement systems don’t reflect the project progress accurately during executing workflowprocess.By virtue of most of the existing design project management system cannot satisify theaccess control requirements at design stage, cannot accurately track both the project andindividual design task progress during executing the workflow and lacks of scalability, thisarticle builds a design project information management system which supports both C/S andB/S application architecture. It is based on SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) information systemplatform, using SPF’s Schema drive design technology to create a domain model for designproject, integrating with workflow management and design document managementfunctionalities. It also improves Instance Group and Task-Role-based Access Control modeland SPF workflow access control mode, by creating a proper workflow access control modelfor design project, named Design Team-Design Task-Task-Role-based Access Control model.Not only could the model satisfy the requirements of access control at the design stage fordesign project management system, but also could track the progress of the whole project andindividual task, and analyze the work load of each team and member so that it could helpproject team to discover the backward design tasks so that project team could complete thedesign project with high quality in time.
