| With the development of sensor techniques, wireless communicationstechniques and network techniques, wireless body area networks (WBAN)comes intobeing. WBAN is a wireless network used for communication among sensor nodesoperating on, in or around the human body in order to monitor vital body parameters.Due to the shared nature of the wireless medium and the importance of humanphysiological parameters, WBAN are vulnerable to attacking and destroying. Thus, astrict and scalable security mechanism is required to prevent malicious interac tionwith a WBAN. Specifically it is easy for adversaries to launch jamming-style attacks.Consequently, mechanisms are needed that can cope with jamming attacks. In thispaper, we examine radio interference attacks from both sides of the issue: We discussdifferent measurements that serve as the basis for detecting a jamming attack, andpresent a strategy—channel surfing that legitimate nodes change their communicationfrequency to avoid jamming from attackers. In this paper, we propose four different jamming attack models that can be usedby an adversary to disable the operation of a wireless network, and evaluate theireffectiveness, and then discuss different measurements that serve as the basis fordetecting a jamming attack. Further we propose an enhanced detection protocols thatemploy consistency checking. As soon as the attack is detected, the wireless deviceswill change its frequency to an orthogonal channel. We study the channel surfing andevaluate this strategy in two-party radio communication. Based on randomness ofchannel changing, a simple pseudo-random number generation algorithm isintroduced and evaluated. Finally, we propose a strategy for changing channelswhereby all nodes operate on the same channel in star network architecture. We observe that signal strength, carrier sensing time and PDR are unable toconclusively detect the presence of a jammer. The combination of PDR and signalstrength is quite powerful in discriminating a jammed scenario from various networkconditions. channel surfing can defend Jamming attacks and restore normal network communications effectively. Linear congruential algorithm has good randomness anduniformity. We observed that the coordinated channel switching method completelyrestores connectivity for every sensor to the network sink on the new channel. |
