| With the rapid development of IT, electronic map has been widely used in allaspects of social life. Recently, with the increasing popularity of high-tech products suchas PDA and smart phones, the planning and design of electronic maps which are based onembedded technology not only have huge potential markets but also are of greatsignificance. Besides common functions, embedded electronic map owns manycharacteristics that other maps are lack of such as convenience in taking, small quantityof data, less resource occupied, compact combination of both communication technologyand networks.In the image display technology,electronic paper technology is an emergingtechnology.Compared to traditional LCD display, electronic paper has many advantages.Therefore the method of making embedded electronic map based on the electronicpaper not only has similarities to traditional electronic maps but also should beoptimized and improved largely. Based on the research of relevant geographic knowledgeas well as consumers’ needs, this paper puts forward a general designing scheme forembedded electronic maps. With Shapefile as data format, in the environment of Linux,and using MiniGUI as developing tool, this paper firstly completes data preparation suchas map projection, coordinate transfermation, coordinate mapping, etc. Then makes anembedded electronic map realizing the functions as scaling, ranging, hologram operating,and inquires, etc.. At last, based on the characteristics of embedded electronic maps, thispaper offers some optimizations and improvements on the traditional methods of makingelectronic maps. |
