| IEEE802.16is an emerging global broadband wireless access standard capable ofdelivering multiple megabits of shared data throughput supporting fixed operation. Atpresent a lot of researches have been focused on the standard. IEEE802.16specifiesradio interface between base station (BS) and subscriber station (BS). But the protocoldoesn’t give any specific algorithm about key mechanisms such as QOS mechanismsand scheduling mechanisms. Besides the standard defines the MAC layer and technicalcriterion of the physics layer. In the MAC layer, the service flow is divided into fivedifferent types:UGSã€ErtPSã€rtPSã€nrtPSã€BE. The five scheduling processes areparticularly explained by the standard, but scheduling algorithm is not discussed. So thescheduling algorithm is worth of studying furtherly.This article will do system simulation for protocol of IEEE802.16using theOPNET network simulation software, the main simulation of a small metro networkmodel, this network model has a certain number of mobile terminals and a certainnumber of base station server,the base station server-side and cover a certain area thesize of mobile terminal, the size of the area has a range of a few hundred meters tosimulate a small MAN, MAN model for this small test load characteristics of thenetwork model and delay characteristics, and according to the load characteristicscurveand the delay characteristic curve to determine whether this MAN meet the basicnetwork connectivity requirements, then this MAN model is extended to further verifythe load characteristics and delay characteristics of the extended network model to meetthe basic requirements. |
