With the increasing frequency of human space activities, the scale of space debris get larger day by day, the space debris produces a great danger to human space activities. For the surveillance of space debris, in addition to measuring the orbit by introducing conventional long-distance precision tracking radar, space debris surveillance, recognition and imaging by target Characteristics Measurement Radar is needed, it has a great help for prediction of collision risk.The development background of x-band wideband radar transmitter, the main technical parameters, classification and composition of transmitter, the select method of vacuum tube, the working principle and power supply of TWT, the working principle of transmitter, the design of high voltage power supply and gate modulation, and the reliability of transmitter are introduced in this paper. The design project of x-band wideband radar transmitter is given. The technology problem of TWT’s power supply is resolved by full switch high voltage power supply technique, and the technology problem of TWT’s modulation is resolved by transformer-coupling solid floating-board modulator technique. The x-band wideband radar transmitter has been manufactured, debugged and tested. The test results indicate that the output power, waveform and spectrum of this transmitter meet the requirements of design, and the correctness of the design is verified.
