With the development of our country s passenger transport market,overcrowding, speeding and vehicle breakdowns problem are widespread amongthe long-distance passenger vehicles, resulting in the frequent occurrence oftraffic accidents, and becoming a great threat of persons lives.According to the current situations of long-distance passenger vehicles, thispaper proposes the design program of long-distance passenger vehicle monitoringsystem based on GPRS. The program uses the embedded Linux operating systemand ARM9microprocessor S3C2440as software and hardware developmentplatform of the system, combined with digital image processing, GPS and CANbus technology to collect the image data of the bus, speed, positioning and allkinds of vehicle status information; these information are uploaded to themonitoring center via GPRS wireless communication technology real-timely, andthen the monitoring center can detect whether the vehicle exists overcrowding orspeeding lawlessness, and monitor running status of the vehicle real-timely.This paper introduces GPS technology, GPRS wireless communicationtechnology, embedded technology which are applied by monitoring terminalfirstly, then proposes the software and hardware platform program of vehiclemonitoring terminal. Hardware, this paper chooses the resource-rich processorS3C2440, introduces the parameters, features of GPS module, GPRS module,camera module and CAN module and the interfaces between them and the hostcontroller. Software, firstly build embedded cross-development environment, cutand transplant linux system according to hardware resources, load drivers ofmodules, make Yaffs root file system. Then this paper achieves the collectionand transmission via GPRS wireless network of GPS position information, imagedata and CAN node data. The monitoring system of long-distance passenger vehic le designed by thispaper can assist supervision department of vehicles to supervise theovercrowding, speeding illegal activities of the vehicles effectively, and monitorthe vehic le operation condition, emergencies real-timely, it s a new vehiclemanagement tool for the passenger transport.
