With the advantages of wide coverage, wireless and high rate of transmission, WiFi network has become the mainstream technology in wireless network.Currently, the WiFi terminals have the common problems of high power consumption and large size. In order to satisfy the requirements of automatic management system of production line, this paper designed a WiFi terminal for wireless management to reduce power consumption and equipment’s size. In the design, low-power processing had been done to minimize the system power consumption in circuit, interface, software and printed circuit board. On the hardware side, low power supply and small packaged chips were chosen. For example, the ultra-low-power microprocessor, low power WiFi chip and the high-efficiency Buck converter were used. The lowest supply voltage and operating frequency were selected which must meet the need of the operation. Low power consumption of interface circuits and printed circuit board materials were selected. On the software side, code optimization and power management was adopted to achieve full use of the chip in sleep mode to reduce the power consumption of the WiFi terminals. The terminal in this design used a lithium battery charged by USB to reduce the size of the equipment effectively.
