Meteorological radar has been widely used in the military and civil areas. The digitalintermediate frequency (IF) receiver is one of the most important sub-system. In thisdissertation, a digital IF receiver is investigated for some XXX-type meteorologicalradar detection system. The receiver has some advantages, such as small in size, highaccuracy and sensitivity and so on, also the receiver has the functions of automaticfrequency control and automatic gain control. The main research contents of this thesisare as follows:1The monopulse secondary meteorological radar and the principle of themonopulse direction finding are introduced.2A complete implementation of the meteorological radar receiver subsystem isgiven, including the RF receiver and digital IF receiver. The system architecture,component selection and hardware design of the digital IF receiver are introducedin detail. And the communication protocols between the digital IF receiver and thehost computer are also presented.3The key module of the digital IF receiver is introducted. It include the dataacquisition and data pre-processing sub-module, the signal processing sub-module,the monitoring and communication sub-module. The signal processing sub-moduleinclude the functions of digital automatic gain control, digital automatic frequencycontrol and the direction finding. Communications protocol among RF receiver,interface subsystem and servo subsystem can be preceded by the monitoring andcommunication sub-module.According to the project design, hardware construction and system joint debugging, theperformance of the designed digital IF receiver is evaluated, and the result satisfied theexpected goal.
