Genetic Algorithm is used to settle the optimization of storage location assignment in military warehouse in this paper. Up to date, most of our military warehouses still manage storage location by hand and this kind of traditional method is so slow that it can’t satisfy the need of today’s storage management. With the development of information technology, the management mode of information can be used to manage the storage location. This managemet mode not only improves the mangement efficiency but also increases the standardization degree and the smartness level.This article has summarized existing storage space optimization achievements, analyzed the problems and solutions of the storage location assignment in military warehouse at present, and established the storage location assignment optimization model suited to military warehouses. Three issues are taken into account in the process of establishing the model:achieving the efficiency model of going into storage and going out of storage according to the velocities, wasting time and travel distnace of each velocity; achiving the stability model of shelves according to the total center of gravity of goods on the shelves; achiving the category storage model according to the distance of the goods of the same type. After the construction of the optimization model, it is simulated and validated using genetic algorithms.Genetic algorithm is implemented by Delphi7.0in this article. We optimized the storage location assignment of a part of the goods in a warehouse of Shenyang military command and the simulation results of this optimization model prove that this model is suited to our application. According to the theoretical analysis and experimental evaluations, we can prove that the model of storage location assignment has great efficiency and feasibility and it can satisfy the commands of most military warehouses.
