The major task of military tactical network is to provide communication guarantee for thecommands from all levels of tactical corps (command posts) and armies. The military tacticalnetwork is mainly composed of portable or vehicle mounted field communication equipments,including network service equipment, communication control equipment, wired transmissionequipment, wireless transmission equipment and user access equipment, etc.. To meet therequirement of mobile and moving battle, wireless communication is the main method in themilitary tactical network, the frequency band of which includes HF, VHF, UHF andmicrowave. The military tactical network, to which most countries pay high attention, is theguarantee for military communication in battlefield. The U.S. Army has already setup a seriesof standard on tactical network, such as MIL-STD-188-220B, and put abundant manpowerand money into research of related technology. In recent years, great quantity ofcommunication equipment has been applied in the U.S. Army thanks to the development ofthese technologies.Nowadays, a great deal of tactical thoughts and war strategies have been put forward forour army’s modern war. In needs of these tactical requirements, an interoperable, integrative,secure and flexible basic information platform is to be built. The platform is with thefunctionality of command, control, communication and computing. Even though we haveachieved phenomenal progress in war field IT construction, more work still needed to be donein networking with different transmission technologies and methods.This topic proposes the project establishment of wireless IP gateway equipment,considering the characteristics of our army’s current fighting mode and communicationnerworking, together with technical advantages and requirements. In the meantime, a series ofresearch on wired networking, wireless networking, network switching, network, protocoltransforming and wireless packet voice.
