The Developing Of An Android Application For Delivery Assistance

The functions of the mainstream of hand-held terminals for express service are towarding the demand of uploading a specific data.This kind of machine and software just give the delivery man a uploading mission and do not assit the delivery man to improve their work efficiency.As a result,I developed an Android application to assist the delivering work.This application will improve the efficiency of delivery man and save the hardware cost for the courier company,using the advantage of low-cost android hardware. This application includes the following features:First, as a management information system,this application allows the delivery staff to inquire the information of a delivery mission or a pickup mission,including the sn、 the number and address of the receiver,etc.The mission datas are downloaded from the data server for each delivery man separately.The barscanning function provided by this application is used to scan a sn and upload some feedback data.Second, the "client state" based on automatic SMS interactive function can do some help to save time. For example, customers can send commands via SMS to the courier.The command"no" means "not at home, please dont come".Once such a message got,the application will find out the mission and change it’s color and put it to the bottom of the list to inform the delivery man in order to avoid wasting time.Third,the sending request will automatically shown to the delivery man who is nearest to the customer.In this paper, I adopt a new method to calculate the distance between two point by the latitude and the longitude. After the calculation,this application will find out the nearest delivery man to the customer by comparing the distance information of different staff.Finally,the customer will soon be serviced.The distance data is shared via the internet database.Fourth, the pickup mission and the delivery mission of the same buliding will be sorted adjacent for the delivery man to make a better discion for routing.In addition,this software contains a barcode/two-dimension code scanning function for deleting data using and some other usage.This software is based on App Inventor platform development, and applies to Android phones and Android Tablet PC.
