Aiming at complex electromagnetic environment simulation, this paper put forward a design scheme including construction of terrain model and wave propagation simulation using ray tracing algorithm, and gave this two parts of research content in details. The paper first analyzes the concept of complex electromagnetic environment, research significance and the main goals. Based on the present research of the electromagnetic environment simulation field at home and abroad, the paper put forward the main research direction:ray tracing algorithm and terrain modeling method. Secondly it gave the basic mechanism of wave propagation including incidence, reflection and diffraction, and summed up the common wave propagation model, then analyzed the advantage of ray tracing algorithm in complex electromagnetic environment simulation. In this paper, we introduced the algorithm and related technologies of ray tracing method in realizing this method in details, and simply introduced the processing module of computer simulation. With Analysis of the common terrain database, this paper put forward the characteristics of the terrain used in simulation and conversion method from common terrain, then gave the modeling method of terrain model.Finally, the paper gave some application examples of radio waves propagation.In this paper, the electromagnetic environment simulation on complex terrain is studied. The paper put forward the method of constructing the simulation terrain model using common terrain database and realized the ray tracing method in simulation on complex terrain. This paper gave a convenient and quick method of electromagnetic environment simulation.
