| Packet transport network is a kind of connection-oriented and packet-based multi-service transmission technology, which has a good capability of carrying multi-service and the ability to operation, administration and maintenance. As a new technology that combines transport function and data switching function, MPLS Transport Profile is one of the main ways to realize PTN. MPLS-TP evolves from MPLS, but reduces the complexity of the Layer3switching, while enhances the OAM and protection function, making the network easier to manage and maintain.As one of the key technologies of MPLS-TP, MPLS-TP OAM has not yet determined the final standard. The requirement of MPLS-TP OAM has been confirmed, but an argument is still exists on how to implement it. ITU-T recommends using the solution based on Y.1731protocol to realize MPLS-TP OAM, but IETF insist the sololution based on extended Bidirecional Forwarding Dectection because BFD has been widely use for contiuity check and connection verificaion. The OAM solution based on extended Bidirectional Forwarding Detection is able to provide a more perfect toolset of operation, management and maintenance. It is one of the mainstream implementations of MPLS-TP OAM.This article studies the theory of MPLS-TP, and makes a general introduction on the development and key technologies of it. The article also analysis and makes a comparison of existing OAM solutions, and draws a conclusion that the solution based on BFD expansion better meets the requirement of MPLS-TP. This article studies the principles of the Bidirectional Forwarding Detection carefully and extends it to support Remote Defect Indication. In this paper, a program has been designed to create BFD session on MPLS-TP network, and a test environment has been setup to verify its function. The test result shows that the MPLS-TP OAM solution based on BFD expansion has good operating management and maintenance functions, and it can meet the requirement of MPLS-TP network. This is advanced in the industry. |
