Wireless sensor network and mobile network involves all aspects of applicationsin human’s life. ZigBee network is a kind of wireless sensor network, which with lowvolume, low energy consumption, flexible networking features and widely used in thelocal area network. The universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS) networkmake the mobile data communication ability increased significantly and provides awide range of communication coverage area. Two kinds of heterogeneous networkintegration will enable the user’s data communication area extended to multiple layers,the obvious advantages of heterogeneous network respectively will be combined witheach other in information technology, such as intelligent household, cutting-edgetechnology, distributed medical network research and so on. For fusion of ZigBeenetwork and UMTS network, the simulation level Research will simplify practicaldifficulties, and at the same time in network strategy, communication protocolcalculus were able to repeatedly test through the network simulation, which will getpreliminary analysis of the convergence performance of the network. It is animportant guiding role to the actual hybrid network operation.In this paper, the main work includes three aspects. First, we made a hybridnetwork based on ZigBee and UMTS after analysis the system structures andcommunication protocol of two networks. Second, we do relevant changes and createnew module based on the NS2simulation software, which include ZigBee-UMTSgateway, improving network layer routing protocol, than we realize the simulationresearch on hybrid network. Third, based on the newly created simulation module, we develop a Management Application Platform for users easier to research thesimulation on the hybrid network.
