This study takes Chinese enterprises as research subjects to explore the complex mechanisms of relationship between internationalization and performance in an attempt to create an opportunity to translate Chinese and foreign scenario difference into theoretical innovation by enhancing dialogues of theory and practice. A major contribution is lies in the creation and empirical test of the new theoretical framework of the analysis of "internationalization process time compression dis-economies" in the relationship between internationalization and Performance. The core ideas of the theory are:Due to absorptive capacity constraints, when overloaded with internationalization within a certain time, an enterprise cannot effectively digest and absorb the internationalization experience, which will ultimately affect the performance of internationalization. In this theoretical framework, this study focuses on analyses of several key dimensions during internationalization, especially the internationalization speed, rhythm, product range and geographical scope that play a regulatory role to the relationship between internationalization and performance. It expounds the empirical findings based on "time compression dis-economies during internationalization" and their great agreement with the trait of Chinese enterprises’ lack of ownership advantages when they accelerate internationalization. The research results will, in theory, extend the cutting-edge research on the behavior of corporate internationalization to a deeper dimension, provide a new basic theoretical analysis perspective and strong evidences to explain the causes of a number of failures of internationalization of Chinese enterprises, and offer important references to the government when it formulates policies for guiding foreign investments.
