Research Of Operational Model Of Wireless City

Hundreds of wireless cities have been built over the last few years around the world with China joining this movement. However, while wireless city has become an icon of a city’s modernization, many have failed lately after 2007. The defects of operational models are the main reason for their failure.Firstly, this paper has carried on the basic knowledge of Wireless City, points out that Wireless City is a wireless extension of the Internet. Then analyzes the characteristics of main wireless broadband access technologies, points out that wireless networking technology choice in the city should be the subject of technology Wi-Fi,3G/WiMax network as supplement. After that, analyzes the main operational models of wireless cities in the world, and concluded the strength and weakness of each model. Extending the Internet’s character as "of the people, by the people, for the people", this paper finally derives two wireless city models as people’s movements based on the IEEE802.11u and led by the local government and operators respectively.
