With the fierce competition environment and various competition patterns, product warranty,which used to be an after-sale service promise for corporations to consumers, has been a powerfultool for manufacturing corporations. Meanwhile, in recent years, there are more and more laws andregulations about product warranty, and consumers enhance self-protection gradually, as a result,incidents caused by product warranty exposure frequently. In the view of complex networks, letvertexes denote manufacturing corporations and links denote assuring relationships between them,then these manufacturing corporations, suppliers and dealers compose a manufacturing productwarranty network, and because of vertexes failure, these incidents can be view as a decrease ofnetwork performance, thus resilience problems of networks. The main purpose of researching onmanufacturing product warranty network is to explore connotation of product warranty from theperspective of complex networks, probe connotation, formation and evolving models of network,thus explore influence on stability of the network under different attacks, and finally offer proposalsto increase stability of the entire network.On the basis of arranging related literature and reference material, this paper gives theoriesabout product warranty and complex networks, including current research situation of the twotheories at home and abroad, concept and impact of product warranty, and characteristic quantities,network models, resilience of complex networks, all which are the foundation of manufacturingproduct warranty network, after that, the paper discusses as follows.Firstly, the paper explores the connotation and forming stage of manufacturing productwarranty network based on theory of cooperative networks in corporation, then represents structureand function characteristics of the network. On the basis of BA model, the evolving model ofmanufacturing product warranty network is proposed and process of numerical analysis and matlabsimulation is gave out, then combined with evolving features of manufacturing corporations, animproved evolving model is put forward, and with numerical analysis and matlab simulation resultseither. Secondly, instability and contributing factors of manufacturing product warranty network isput forward. There are two kinds of attacks to the network, random attacks and intentional attacks,vertexes in network are removed randomly during random attacks and when intentional attackshappen, vertexes are removed intentionally in accordance with importance of vertexes or links. Inthis paper, importance of vertexes are compared by vertexes weight, by taking an automobileproduct warranty network as an object, the paper analyzes influence on stability of automobileproduct warranty network under the two attacks by calculating variation of two indexes, average shortest-paths and connectedness. Results show that manufacturing product warranty network hasan excellent robustness to random attacks and a low stability to intentional attacks, the two indexeschange slowly when vertexes are removed randomly, yet network performance decrease drasticallyafter few vertexes are removed intentionally, which means network will confront with seriousdamage when intentional attacks happen. Thirdly, an empirical analysis on an automobile productwarranty network by ucinet software is given out. On the one hand, by drawing network topologyand calculating degree distributions, the paper processes a power law fitting of degree distributionsand obtain a fitting function, which gives a proof of scale-free feature about the empirical network,on the other hand, by calculating shortest-paths and clustering coefficients, the paper proves thefeature of small-world about manufacturing product warranty network. Finally, proposals abouthow to enhance stability of the entire network is put forward, including refraining from hub’sformation and protecting hubs in manufacturing product warranty network.
