The Empirical Analysis Of Influencing Factors And Current Situation Of The Intra-industry Trade In Electronic And Information Industry Between China And Japan

The electronic and information industry is the first pillar industry in China.The scale has grown to be second in the world, after the United States, followed by Japan. The high level of intra-industry trade and good trade pattern bring not only big competitive power and important position in the international market, but also good trend to development. Hence the empirical analysis of current situation and influencing factors of intro-industry trade in electronic and information industry between China and Japan has important significance.First of all, we analyze the basic condition, market competitiveness and characteristic of the electronic and information industry trade between China and Japan, then analyze the type and extent of the trade,finally analyze the influencing factors from the statical angle and dynamical angle. The empirical research indicates that the import and export of electronic and information industry trade between the two countries are growing rapidly, and its proportion in the total trade between the two countries is very big, that means electronic and information industry trade between the two countries has very important position. But our country’s electronic and information products for the Japanese market have weak competitiveness.Using statical and dynamical indexes of intra-industry trade to measure the type of electronic and information industry trade between the two countries, we find that:from the statical perspective, it belongs to intra-industry trade, and belongs to the low quality vertical intra-industry trade; from the dynamic perspective, it belongs to marginal intra-industry trade, and belongs to horizontal marginal intra-industry trade. Secondly the empirical research of the influence factors of the electronic and information industry trade between the two countries indicates that:from the dynamical perspective of intra-industry trade, the actual investment from Japan to China, the relative difference of the capital endowments between Japan and China, the average tax burden of Chinese electronic and information industry have direct correlativity with the intra-industry trade of the electronic and information industry between the two countries; the average credit burden of Chinese electronic and information industry and the average tariff of China are negatively interrelated with the intra-industry trade of the electronic and information industry between the two countries. The relative difference of the consumers’demands between the two countries has little relationship with the dynamic intra-industry trade of the electronic and information industry between the two countries.That maybe means Theory of Demand Preference Similarity has less applicable for vertical intra-industry trade; But, from the statically perspective of intra-industry trade, these seven factors are not obvious effect. The reason, the statical index of intro-industry trade is stable and little has changed; on the other hand, economic variables are generally nonstationary. But the dynamical index of intro-industry trade is calculated according to the increment of trade, it can partly eliminate the unstability. Therefore the empirical research of the influence factors of the dynamical intro-industry trade has practical significance, also has a certain reference for government policies. Finally, according to the results of empirical research, we put forward effective suggestions for the relevant government departments and related enterprises.
