Getting Common Prosperity:Deng Xiaoping’s Common Prosperity Thought And The Problem About Polarization Between The Rich And The Poor

The thoughts of common prosperity are an essential characteristic of the socialist society, which internally form main content in the socialist economic theory of Deng Xiaoping and have global guidance with China’s socialist modernization construction. Through the reform and opening-up, Chinese social productive forces have been rapid growth. It can be said that in a certain extent China has been economic basis for realizing common prosperity. But when the cake is becoming bigger and bigger, how to distribute it impartially becomes a prominent problem. If the polarization between the rich and the poor isn’t not only narrowed, but also widened, it will considerably bury the seeds for social contradiction and conflict. If we are going to build socialist harmonious society, we must avoid polarization and walk the road of common prosperity. Therefore, in the new era, reinterpreting the thoughts of Deng Xiaoping’s common prosperity are more important.This paper explains the thoughts of Deng Xiaoping’s common prosperity from four parts. Part one is history trace of common prosperity. The thoughts of Deng Xiaoping’s common prosperity absorbed the Great Harmony in Chinese traditional society, critically inherited the reasonable factor in the western utopian socialism and at the same time, learned the lessons of social construction.Part two is the content of Deng Xiaoping’s common prosperity, which includes the essential characteristic of common prosperity and the foundation of realizing common prosperity respectively. Common prosperity is the unity of first rich and in all rich, fairness and efficiency, material and spiritual civilization which show that it is a gradual process, not at the same time and synchronous, rich. Historical experiment tells, if we pursue it, this would lead the common poor. As a new social form, common prosperity doesn’t realize in other social forms. Only in socialist conditions, just have it all possible. So ensuring the main status of public ownership and the leading position of distribution according to work have to obey the principle in the modern construction.Part three analyses the problem of common prosperity at the present time that is the polarization between the rich and the poor. This paper analyses the problem and damage by means of the gap between the cities and villages, different regions, different individual and gives explanation for producing these.Part four discusses the methods for solving the polarization between the rich and the poor. The emergence of the socialist system establishes the systematical foundation for the realization of common prosperity. Therefore, in the process of solving the polarization between the rich and the poor, we must ensure the socialist direction of China’s modernization and reform and improve the social distribution methods and public service system. This can eventually push the Chinese society to move forward the common prosperity in such a benign economic development system.
