The Study And Application Of EPC Mode For Petrochemical Engineering Project Management

Abundant experience of petrochemical engineering project management has been gained in the past50years in our country. However, with the development of petrochemical engineering project and the complication of the technology gradually, much higher request is brought up for project management mode.The EPC mode is a new developed mode about project contract and management in the recent ten years in the world. It is the advanced and mature mode of project management, having been applied in the petrochemical engineering project increasingly. With the advantages of saving project investment, shortening construction period, the high level technology and less risk, EPC mode has be accepted by owners. Under the impetus of government, many petrochemical projects have used EPC mode in China. The EPC mode is becoming more and more mature in the practice, but also revealing some problems. How to resolve these problems and ensure the better application of the EPC mode in petrochemical engineering projects, it is necessary to analyze the situation and problems existed in the application of EPC mode.Due to the background of petrochemical engineering projects in China Huanqiu Chemical Engineering Corporation (SH), the application of EPC mode in Shandong DC Chemical Co. Ltd250000TPA coal-tar oil processing project is introduced from the aspects of design, purchase, construction. The problems of EPC mode applied in the project are analyzed and the counter measures are also proposed. Meanwhile, based on the shortages in the management experience of EPC mode, the "EPC+Partnering" mode is imported. The application situation of "EPC+Partnering" mode in Ningbo200000TPA polystyrene new built plant project is analyzed, the successful experience of "EPC+Partnering" mode are also summarized. Finally, based on the management experience of two projects, the necessary management abilities of domestic petrochemical enterprises facing various competence is summarized at the present situation, suggestions of optimizing EPC mode are also proposed.
