| With the rapid economic development at the expense of resources, the retired obligation because of the Environmental protection and ecological restoration has gained incresing concern, its recognition, measurement, and disclosure should become the mining enterprises’ social responsibility. However, in the industry involved the retired obligation in the capital markets, some enterprises recognition, measurement and disclosure retired obligation, some not. Combining with the real situation of China, this paper has systematically studied the influencing factors of retired obligation information disclosure of China’s mining enterprises from the theoretical and empirical perspective.First, based on the relevant literature, this paper select the sample of mining enterprises in China from the period2007to2010, manual statistics the relevant data of retired obligation, and conducted a descriptive statistical analysis and find that the mining enterprises’ disclosure level is lower, but showing an increasing trend. The industry of oil and gas’s disclosed proportion is the highest, then the coal industry, the lowest is the power industry. The paper empirically studies the influencing factors of retired obligation information disclosure of China’s mining enterprises by using the multiple linear regression method. The influence factors contain eight factors:the company’s size, debt ratio, growth ability, profitability, the size of accounting firm, contributions to society, background of the chief financial officer, ultimate controller’ nature etc. The empirical results show that the size of the company, debt ratio, growth ability, the size of accounting firm, contributions to society have a great influence on the environmental information disclosure. In other words, the bigger size of the firm, the lower debt ratio, the higher growth ability, bigger size of the accounting firm, the more contributions to society, the higher level of the retired obligation’s information disclosure and the greater of the retired obligation’s disclosure amount. Finally, based on the empirical study, this paper proposes several policy recommendations to improve the retired obligation’s information disclosure behavior of mining enterprises. |
