After the impact of the financial crisis, China’s economic developmentenvironment has changed dramatically, and the transformation of Chineseenterprises is an inevitable trend. Chinese enterprises should actively makeuse of the new technological developments to vigorously promoteindependent innovation. At the same time, in order to support independentinnovation of Chinese enterprises, the government will put more emphasis onthe protection of intellectual property, which is also conducive to thedevelopment of the software industry. This paper, through analysis of theexternal environment and internal conditions of American JM industrialdesign software company in China, aims to work out the Americancompany’s development strategy in China, in order to improve theeffectiveness of business decision-making. In addition, by making use ofChina’s scientific and technological innovation at current rapid developmentperiod, enterprise will be able to provide more research and developmentsoftware tool products for Chinese customers, to make some contribution tothe development of Chinese enterprises.Firstly, this paper does analysis of the company’s external environment,including macroeconomic environment and industry developmentenvironment, and uses Porter’s five forces model to analyze the company’scompetitive environment. Through analysis of the company’s internalenvironment, including R&D capabilities, marketing, human resources, financial status, organizational structure etc, this paper makes an examineinto the company’s ability and then uses the SWOT (strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-threats) method to make a deep analysis of the company. Onthis basis, according to the ability of the company itself as well as therequirements of the environment, and through SWOT and the Boston matrixanalysis tools, this paper works out the company’s overall strategy, such asmerger and acquisition strategy and strategic alliance, as well as competitivestrategy focused on differentiation. Finally, in order to ensure that the overallstrategy can be implemented successfully, this paper presents somecountermeasures.
