Research On Spatial Disparity Of Energy Efficiency In China

The development of economy depends on the energy consumption. As thecontradiction between energy consumption and the energy supply becoming more serious,the energy crisis influences the development of the global economy. As a result, topromote energy efficiency is becoming important to every country in the world. Thedevelopment of our country’s economy can be achieved with the high consumption ofenergy, which causes the energy efficiency of China lower than that of the developedcountries. Nowadays our country’s economical characteristic is uneven economicdevelopment and the difference in energy efficiency. In such circumstances, it is veryimportant to investigate how to improve the energy efficiency.The date envelopment approach，the stochastic frontier approach with the fixed effectmodel are used to investigate the energy efficiency of our country in this paper. We canconclude that each method has its advantage by using these two methods to analysis theenergy efficiency. We use the three methods to estimate the energy efficiency of28provinces in China from1990to2009. Based on the empirical result, this paper makesanalysis on the differences of energy efficiency in the eastern and western regions, and thechange trends of energy efficiency. The energy efficiency is difference in different regions,such as maximum energy efficiency in eastern and western min. In the end of the paper,we offered some suggestions to improve the energy efficiency.
