Six Sigma was firstly established in1980s during the quality awakening of Motorola Company in America, and acquired great success. Then, it drew attentions of the enterprises all over the world, especially those in the top500list, and they began to recognize, accept and push this management type. After that, Six Sigma has evolved one kind of management stratagem to improve enterprise nuclear competition power. Now almost all the famous companies in the world apply Six Sigma type to deepen their management.After World War Two, Toyota Company in Japan established a unique kind of producing type, i.e. Lean production management, which is characteristic of abundant product kinds, small lot capacity, high quality and low consumption. This producing type achieved remarkable effects in Toyota Company and is paid special attention world widely. It eliminates the unnecessary waste in producing processes and realizes the aim of shortening producing circle(it is also to say that it can shorten the time from customer sending out orders to delivery)Six Sigma offers appropriate methodology and tools for the improvement of existing process performance, while Lean Management can eliminate waste, standardize daily work and increase throughput. The combination of these two, i.e. Six Sigma Lean Management, make them complementary and used for reference to one another, and can be adapted by more enterprises. It can promote the two areas work and make them play more active effects.Yantai Lubao Steel Pipe CO., Ltd.(Lubao Steel Pipe for short as followed) is an controlled stock subsidiary company of Bao Iron and Steel corporation. It is located in Yantai. Lubao Steel Pipe has a quite perfect250mm hot rolling seamless production line, and a great deal of products are exported to many Asian, European and American countries. The company takes up with technology improvements and management innovations in recent years. All of its economic and technology indexes have come to the domestic advanced level, However, there still are many problems such as big production and quality fluctuation, unstable production rate in the company. To satisfy the need of market and to promote yield and quality, Lubao Steel Pipe inducts Lean Six Sigma Management to improve each aspect work.The article gives an example of improved production rate of219*6~6.5mm steel pipe, which is the most representational production of Lubao Steel Pipe, and shows the preferable effects by applying Lean Six Sigma Management theory and tools. Now the yield of this kind steel pipe has been increased from104.4p/h to112.67p/h.and the fluctuation between each production has been reduced greatly. It can increase economical benefit more than2.8million Yuan annually. The main work includes analyzing fieldwork condition, gathering mass data, applying statistical method, finding and validating unreasonable sections, putting forward reasonable improvement actions and solving producing problems by improving and controlling.
