This paper was written in the background of Chinese financial industry opening tothe outside world. The commercial banks need to change their management idea,should gradually shift their focus from the traditional credit business to theintermediary business which has more space for development. The intermediarybusiness of commercial bank had certain development in our country at present. But ithasn’t become the most important business pillar in terms of quantity and quality.Through the research of the intermediary business of the commercial bank indeveloped countries, the author found the intermediary business was the core value ofcommercial banks in future; was the future direction of the commercial banks’development in China. Combined with the Construction Bank of China as arepresentative example of the Chinese banking industry, the author found out thesuitable intermediary business development mode and strategy through the individualanalysis.This paper used the method of the management statistics, the human resourcemanagement, the marketing management and the strategic management etc toanalysis. It discusses according to the following five parts. It focused on the followingissues:First of all, the present situation of intermediary business development of CCB.He made an internal comparison for the intermediary business products of CCB;found the present status of intermediate business development of CCB. Comparedwith the others, he found out the advantages of products and the existing problems inthe intermediate business of CCB.A detailed analysis showed that the reasons causedthe problems were the economic environment, lack of professional talents and backward services.Secondly, the gap between the commercial banks in our country and thedeveloped countries. The writer analyzed the mode of the intermediary business indeveloped country commercial banks, as: A wide range of varieties, profit ability andhigh proportion, high-tech service and professional talent. He found out thedeficiency of our commercial banks, including the few varieties, the financialinnovation capability and the low technical level.Third, the strategy CCB chosen to develop the intermediary business of CCB.The writer analyzes the internal and external environment of CCB by using SWOT.He combined with strengths、 weaknesses、opportunities、threats of the enterpriseto analyze the various factors, and selected the most suitable direction of thedevelopment strategic, namely the advantage-opportunity strategy (SO),fromothers.Finally, the goal, the mode and the strategy of the intermediary businessdevelopment of CCB. In the form of the advantage-opportunity strategy, the CCBshould formulate the short, the medium, the long term goals and the suitability modesof intermediary business development. To achieve the goal, CCB should take a morepositive development countermeasures, including formulating the talent introductionplan,training system, establishing intermediary business management system,improving the cognitive ability of managers at all levels, driving the upgrading thequality of service and building a risk control system.The article takes the CCB, one of four biggest state-owned commercial banks inour country, as the main research body. It has very strong representative. Therefore,the analysis of the development mode and the strategy has reference significance toour commercial banks intermediate business development.
