In recent years, animal aggregation, as one of complex systems, has arrived muchattention from the experts in many fields. Thus, the study of animal group has been one ofnational key topics. For exploring the complex system further, this paper based onmulti-agent technology, parallelizing technology and computer simulation, sets up a newmodel that is on the strength of self-organization, and researches fish school further inthree-dimensional space. Furthermore, this paper is very useful to study the biology, theecology and the economics.Firstly, this paper develops the traditional metric distance interaction(MDI) model, and builds a new model in three-dimensional space. Thereby, we simulate three commonpatterns of fish school: parallel, torus and swarm, and realize the automatic transition ofdifferent collective patterns, which is a natural phenomenon but failed to show in manyprevious agent-based fish school models. Thus, it is demonstrated that the new model ismuch better.Secondly, according to topological distance as we know, this paper builds topologicaldistance interaction(TDI) model of fish collective behavior in three-dimensional spacewhich is the first3D model that implements topological interaction. Similarly, with thisnew model, we simulate three patterns of fish school: parallel, torus, swarm, and realizethe automatic transition of three patterns, which is proving that the TDI model isreasonable. Furthermore, this paper contrasts this model with MDI model above, andsearches the relationship and difference between two models: Overall, two models arevery reasonable; comparing to the latter, the former is easier to implement and is better insimulation results.Lastly, with the help of parallelizing technology, this paper based on the TDI modelmentioned above, sets up a parallelizing model in three-dimensional space, and puts up thenumber of fish school which is achieved to80,000. Thus, the large-scale pattern of fish isimplemented well, which is more realistic in computer simulation and studies the complex system in much depth.
