With the development of geographic information technology, information management based on spatial has become the focus of research fields, introducing a new thought for the digital campus construction. Existing management information systems of campus have made a contribution to the digital campus construction, these systems are independent of each other and its management way is old. So it is difficult to realize campus interaction and sharing of valuable data resources. Although, some campus has been introducing GIS to the management of campus, there systems are still single and scalable. In addition to, they can not be seamlessly integrated with existing management information system of campus. So this paper is to build a framework for superior scalability, easy integration of common campus WebGIS model, and makes discussion and research on design idea and implementation method of the model.Firstly, in order to abstract a campus space model which can describe the the campus space object hierarchy and spatial relationships well, we categorize the campus space in the entity and analyz the level of space object organization model. On the basis of this model, the characteristics of campus geographic information system and ArcGIS Server system structure, we design a campus WebGIS general logic model.which consists of interactive layer, business logic layer and data layer.Secondly, we propose detailed design of the three layers of the campus model. In the interactive layer, the Cairngorm framework based on MVC design pattern is introduced into the WebGIS client design. In the business logic layer, we study mechanism on how the Web server and the GIS server handle the client request, and give the realization of the principle of corresponding business processing and GIS services processing between interactive layer and business logic layer. In the data layer, we put forward the attribute data and spatial data in seamless integration solutions based on campus existing management information system attribute database and geographic information system spatial database features.Thirdly, based on campus WebGIS universal model proposed in this paper and the background of YanShan universities’construction of the digital asset management, YanShan university assets navigation system was designed and implemented on ArcGIS platform by using Flex,.net and SQL Server technology.And we Implement the mapping from the model to the prototype system. The experimental results show that the proposed campus WebGIS model has validity, universality, and practical value.
