The offshore structures were dangerous in sea ice conditions, and several accidentshave been caused by the sea ice both here and abroad. The research results haveindicated that the conical structure can reduce the ice force, and some methods tocalculate the ice force on the conical structure have been addressed. But most of theprevious researches were based on the sea-ice without snow. According to the formersurvey, snow-cover will affect the growth of the sea ice and the physical andmechanical properties, and it will make it easy to form the ice rubble pile. All of thesewill change the ice force, so how to calculate the ice force with considering thesnow-covered condition is imperative.This paper developed these works to research the ice force of the snow covered icesheet before the conical structure as follows:(1) Through collecting the literature and data, the research presents the status of theresearch on the ice force in front of the conical structure.(2) Summarize the characteristics of the ice mechanics tests and model scale factor.And make a detail plan to calculate the ice force.In this paper, the differences of snowstates will have different influences on the interaction between the ice sheet and theconical structure, resulting in the change of the ice force.(3) Colligating the papers which related to the ice force considering the snow-covercondition and the test results in this paper, the influence of the snow-cover on the iceforce is analyzed detailedly. The relationship between the ice force and the ice speedis summarized. Finally the future research direction is described.
