Leucine-rich repeat receptor-like protein kinases (LRR-RLKs) are involved in avariety of signal transduction process during the plant growth and development andenvironmental responses, which play an important role throughout the life course oforganisms. Recent studies have shown that LRR-RLKs undertake a key role inregulating morphogenesis and cell differentiation processes in plant meristem system. This research used bioinformatics method and combined with leucine-rich repeatreceptor-like protein kinases’ genetic resources in Arabidopsis, to separateLRR-RLKs from Populus Trichocarpa by molecular biology, which help to identifyseveral PtLRR-RLK genes involved in vascular system morphogenesis anddifferentiation in Populus Trichocarpa. By those methods, we hope to understand thetemporal and spacial expression pattern and regulation mechanisms of these genes inpopulus. Using a BlastP search in the Phytozome database with Arabidopsis genes, itrevealed a total of384complete LRR-RLK genes in the P. trichocarpa genome. Weconstructued the phylogenetic tree of this gene and made digital heat maps. Then wechose17poplar genes with specific expression patterns in the cambium anddifferentiating xylem. Then these genes were cloned and their overexpression vectorswere constructed for future transformation into poplar trees. This paper is an important efforts to isolate LRR-RLKs responsible for plant cellsignal transduction involved in vascular tissue development. It would provide basicdata and theoretical support to help us to controlwoody propertiesduring development,to impove wood characteristics and to develop fast growing timber.
