Hainan province located at the southernmost tip of China, the largest island ofsoutheast margin waters. It connected the South China Continent with the Qiongzhou Strait. In the tectonic position, Hainan province located in the three cross-binding site of theEurasian plate, the Pacific plate and the India-Australian plate. Three barite deposits havebeen discovered on the island which represent three different genetic types: hydrothermalvein type, sedimentary-metamorphic type and weathering crust type. The special tectonicposition, metallogenic background and very complex geodynamic evolution lead to hugepotential of barite mineral resource in the region.Relying on the project of Geological Survey of Hainan province,“The importantmineral resource potential evaluation of Hainan province–The barite mineral resourcepotential evaluation”, this paper apply the modern Mineral Resources Assessment Methodsand GIS evaluation techniques to achieve the study on the barite ore deposit prospectivearea of Hainan and the metallogenic potential prediction of Baoyou typical region t, whichmay provide a basis for the support capacity assessment of mineral resources.(1) With the usage of MapGIS, ArcGIS, ENVI Imagine and some other GIS andremote sensing image precessing sofeware, the acquired images, information and datarelating to geography, geology, geochemistry, geophysics and remote sensing in the studiedarea were carried out a series of precess, such as some geometric correction, projectiontransforms, vector graphics, attribute database building, image precessing, forming variousgeological data themes gallery, integrating systematically and establishing thecorresponding GIS geological database to provide a management and analysis platform forthe barite ore prospect analysis of Hainan and comprehensive prediction of Baoyou typicalregion.(2) By studying on the10geochemical stream sediment samples with R clusteranalysis, Ba, Cu, Pb, Zn four geochemical best combination of signs are filtered. Thegeochemical and geophysical anomaly informations are extracted by using mathematicalstatistical analysis and principal component analysis, which prcess comprehensive analysisand forecast combined with geological mineral characteristics. Seven barite oremetallogenic prospecting areas are delineated.(3) On the basis of analysis of prospecting areas in the whole island, the Baoyou typical prospective area is selected for the further research. Through processinggeochemical and geophysical data, the anomaly informations are abstracted. Then theforecast area useful structural informations are obtained by processing and interpreting theremote sensing image of Baoyou predicting area bonding with geological field verification.(4) A comprehensive analysis of geology and mineral resources, geochemical, geophysical and remote sensing anomaly informations in Baoyou typical predicting region, relying on MRAS software, using the evidence weighting method, by choosing theevidence factors and calculating its prior probability, weights and posterior probability, thecolor block diagram of the posterior probability is achieved and8barite ore favorabletargets are received. And then4barite ore prospecting targets are delineated ultimately bytargets optimization using cluster analysis method. According to ore-forming probability ofthe4final delineated target regions of Baoyou predicting region, they could be dividedinto two categories. The known barite ore deposit is in I prospecting target, but geology, geochemistry, geophysics and the tectonic interpretation of remote sensing for all the4prospecting targets indicate a very good mineral resources potential.
