Study On The Biodiversity Assessment And Conservation On Dantuozi Islet

For few human activities, Dantuozi Islet, belonging to Dalian Chenshantou Coastal Landform National Nature Reserve, is a breeding and rest habitat for50to100thousand migration birds every year, which formed a Bird islet, a rare landscape in the northern China. Geographic isolation between the island and the mainland results in a distinctive island ecosystem on the small island, generally, characterized by unfriendly climates and poor function of resistance to external disturbances. Therefore, the research of biodiversity on Dantuozi Islet could be some reasonable bases for coming up with conservation strategies of biodiversity on other islands like it.Dantuozi Islet biodiversity evaluation is the first research about biodiversity on islet in China. According to the results of25times investigations during2years and birds information on Dantuozi Islet and considering the environment and species distribution on Dantuozi Islet, we established a evaluation system based on "Standard for the assessment of regional biodiversity" published by Ministry of environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China in2011, included richness of wild seed plant species, richness of wild bird species, diversity of ecosystem types, threatened species and degree of invasion of invasive alien species. For now, there are10species birds on Dantuozi Islet, belonging to5genera,5families and5orders, included9species breeding here, the numbers of witch is increasing annually. According to the investigations,54species seed plants belonging to51genera and28families are distributed on this islet, most of which are herbaceous plants while arbors were not found. Among these plants,15of them are toxic and39of them, occupied a large portion, should be conserved due to their value as therapeutics. The evaluation consequence shows that the biodiversity index of Dantuozi Islet is11.7249and its classification of biodiversity index is low, where there is a threatened species and a invasive alien species on it. In comparison with other Nature Reserve and island with larger area, Dantuozi Islet indicates several features such as simple population structure, high plant population density and unfriendly plant growing environment.In accordance with the result of the biodiversity investigation on Dantuozi Islet, ecological factors affecting the distribution of plants, plant community assembly rules and several threatening factors of biodiversity on it were talked over and analyzed simply. Meanwhile, suggestions on the strategy of Dantuozi Islet biodiversity conservation were proposed, which included birds living status conservation, reducing disturbance to breeding birds, maintaining the island ecosystem stability, monitoring of plants dynamic changes, integration of technology with increasing financial input in environmental conservation, enhancing monitoring and management on plants protection and wide publicity about awareness of environmental protection publicity.
