Within the framework of the effective mass approximation, the impurity state and the polaron in ellipsoidal quantum dot quantum well structure were investigated theoretically.Firstly, the impurity state in ellipsoidal quantum dot quantum well structure have been studied. The results show that when the well width is fixed, the binding energy decreases with increasing ellipticity constant. When the ellipticity constant is fixed, the binding energy decreases with increasing well width, when the ellipticity constant is fixed.Secondly, the polaron in ellipsoidal quantum dot quantum well structure is studied under the infinite barrier approximate. Numerical results show that the ground energy decreases with increasing ellipticity constant, when the core radius is fixed. And as the core radius increases, the reduced value of the ground energy is also increases. In addition, the contribution of phonon to polarons of ellipsoidal quantum dot quantum well decreases with increasing well width, and the ground energy decreases with increasing ellipticity constant, at a fixed well width.
