Optics is a more abstract subject in physics. Because of the need of teaching and experiments, a variety of simulation methods continue to emerge, but the simulation software not appeared of both can reflect the physical process and the experimental phenomena, this is not conducive to the in-depth understanding of the students’ knowledge, nor to facilitate the deepening explain of the teachers. With the growing popularity of computer technology and development, MATLAB goes into the field of vision of the research and teaching staff due to its powerful capabilities in math and graphics. Since then, more realistic and accurate simulation programs were written. And this paper is also writing is in this context. In the writing process, this paper consults a considerable part of the information to be analyzed. This paper was finished with many of the problems we encountered in our learning. This paper briefly explains the experimental principles and methods, shows the experimental simulation diagram. The most of the simulation program source attached in the appendix. In this paper, we have done:(1) Introduced common knowledge of MATLAB in optical experiments.(2) The simulation of optical basic concepts, including the classification, polarization state, the nature, characteristics, synthesis and decomposition of light.(3) The simulation of some of the basic phenomena of optical, including rectilinear propagation (pinhole imaging), the interference (Young’s double slit interference experiment, equal inclination interference, equal thickness interference, Newton’s rings), the diffraction (Fraunhofer single slit diffraction, Fraunhofer circular aperture diffraction). By optical phenomena and experimental simulation, teachers and students can learn more profound of the theory of optics in understanding.
