One of the core issues of the contemporary western philosophy of mind is whether the consciousness is physical. Around the problem, the debate between physicalism and anti-physicalism, two opposing camps in the philosophy of mind, has been very intense. Especially with the development of the technology of neuroscience and cognitive science, philosophy of mind is showing obvious tendencies of naturalism. But because of the physicalist thesis strongly conflict with the intuition of our daily lives, many philosophers have tried our anti-physicalist intuition developed into a rigorous philosophical argument in order to critique or even refute physicalism.Frank Jackson’s knowledge argument is the most famous and influential argument against physicalism. The knowledge argument is of concern, become the majority of philosophers and scientists are eager to discuss the topic, not only because it is a powerful weapon against the physicalist, but also because it has a great relationship with the fundamental problem of philosophy, and to a certain extent, affect the research ideas of contemporary brain science and cognitive science.This paper will take the knowledge argument as the research object, the physicalism and the anti-physicalism battle doctrine as the focus, to explore the related problems. Specifically, the first part is the background of the knowledge argument, and the research condition; the second part mainly discusses the connotation and significance of the knowledge argument; the third part and the fourth part are the discussions of various responses of physicalists and non-physicalists; the fifth part try to provide a more suitable understanding of the knowledge argument by re-interpreting and revising the knowledge argument.
