Subpellicular structures of Pseudoamphisiella lacazei and Stentor coeruleus wereobserved by the scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electronmicroscopy(TEM).Main results are as follows:1.Pseudoamphisiella lacazei1.1The alveolar layer is composed of various alveolar structure, diameter of whichis1.39um.The thick of the alveolar layer: the ventral size, from0.93um to5.25um;thedorsal size, from0.95to6.54um;the caudal size,9.85um×4.72um.Its possible functionis to:①protect the cell;②maitain cell morphology③eject extrusomes1.2Among the alveolar layer, oval mucocystses are densely arranged. The length isabout1.17μm, the diameter is about0.41μm.1.3Brevibacterium attached to the inside of the surface membrane, scattered andchained, size1.33um×0.44um.2.Stentor coeruleus2.1The cortex contains three fiber systems.①the myonemes②the Km fibers. Inaddition, there are similar intermediate filament matrix systems under the superficialof the surface, the diameter is about0.04um.2.2Two kinds of pigmentocysts exist in the cortex:Both of them are blue.Pigmentocyst1,between the myonemes and the Km fibers, round, the diameter is about0.97um; Pigmentocyst2,between Km fibers and similar intermediate filament matrixsystems, round, the diameter is about0.55um.3.According to the shape and structure of the extrusome,we give some evidences tothe taxonomic study in ciliates.4.Give some information to support the the hypothesis that the origin of symbioticbacteria is from the phagocytosis of ciliates.
