GPS (Global Positioning System) is a navigation system developed by the UnitedStates Department of Defense. It meets the requirements of real-time and accuratenavigation. GPS navigation includes RF, baseband signal processing, position solutionof the user and other modules. The GPS signal acquisition is a key technology insatellite navigation, but at present the traditional GPS acquisition methods use signalacquisition technology based on waveform, which have the problem of high samplingrate and a large number of data processing, resulting in a waste of resources. With the fast replacement of the technology products, portable GPS products needto meet the requirements of less cost, lower power consumption and faster processingspeed. This paper proposes a new GPS signal acquisition technology——compressivesensing.Compressive sensing theory is a new signal processing theory born in signalprocessing field in recent years. Since this theory was proposed, it has recived a lot ofattention and application. Signal sampling and compression coding in compressedsensing are processed at the same time. Signals are non-adaptivly decoded at the ratemuch less than the Nyquist sampling rate by using signal’s sparsity. Compressedsensing method reduces the sampling rate and power consumption, which is particularlyimportant for navigation applications.Firstly, this paper researches on compressive sensing theory. Then GPS signalacquisition model based on compressed sensing has been built, and the feasibility ofacquisition algorithm has been tested on software platform. After that, the algorithm isrealized on hardware platform----OMAP3530-EVM board, which is a ARM+DSParchitecture processor platform. In order to use this platform, algorithm xDM package,Codec Engine software framework structures, communication driver modules, networkfile system and other important steps have to be completed. Finally, the requiredacquisition information is received after debugging code and analysing results. At last,by contast analysis of the performace of traditional acqusition methods and compressivesensing acqusition method, a number of improved methods are proposed to overcome the shortcomings of compressive sensing acqusition method. Then the feasibility ofthese methods is proved by simulation.
