Ionosphere is closely related to human activities, so the study of ionosphericabnormalities is of great significance to such fields as electronic communications, satellitepositioning and so on. solar flares and solar eclipse can cause apparent abnormalities in theionosphere. This paper embarks from the instance, researches and explores China’s regionalionospheric abnormalities caused by these two phenomena, with the use of the technology ofGPS.This paper describes the principles and methods of using the GPS dual frequencyobservations to monitor the ionospheric abnormalities. It adopts the GPS dual frequencyobservation data provided by the global GPS service, respectively analyzes and exploresChina’s ionospheric abnormalities caused by solar flares and a total solar eclipse. It highlightsthe methods of GPS data processing in all aspects and the regional ionospheric model whereleast squares surface function establishs, and analyzes and summarizes Yangtze River’sionospheric TEC diurnal variation characteristics with the help of Global ionospheric gridmodel. According to the analysis of the two solar flare events causing China’s ionosphericTEC abnormalities, it proves the ionospheric responsive "precursor" phenomenon before theflare. Under the use of regional models for the establishment of the Shanghai Railway Station,it specificly analyzes VTEC’s response to the phase eclipse of solar eclipse on the time scalein the process of the total solar eclipse on July22,2009, and combines VTEC’s change ratioin different regions, thus summing up the relation between the variation of VTEC and theregional. In this paper, the ionospheric TEC variations in different latitudes caused by flaresand solar eclipses are also been compared and analyzed. In line with the Global ionosphericgrid model, it draws a contour map of China’s ionospheric TEC variation on the solar eclipseday of July22, and puts forward two concepts of value of ε, P which detect ionosphericabnormalities.
