In current years, with the development of radioactive nuclear beam facilities, alarge number of unstable nuclei far from the β stability line are produced. The studyof the reaction mechanisms and the structure of exotic nuclei through the reactionscaused by radioactive nuclear beams has been a hotspot issue of the nuclear physics. In order to study the reaction mechanisms of exotic nuclei far from the β stability linebased on complete kinematic measurement on the Radioactive Ion Beam Line inLanzhou (RIBLL) at the Heavy-Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL), Acharged particle detector array, which is composed of multiple identical telescopesystems, is needed to be developed. Based on the requirements of the measurement ofthe reaction caused by exotic nuclei far from the β stability line, and taken care of theproperties of RIBLL1, the detector should have high performance, such as highenergy resolution over a wide dynamic range in energy, reasonable position resolution, large solid-angle coverage, small space occupation and the ability to detect multipleparticles simultaneously. The main work of this thesis contains,(1) Based on the requirements of thedetector, the design of the charged particle detector array is given. The detector arrayconsists of several full function detector modules, Each detector module is amulti-layer telescope, consisting of a thin (65μm) double-side (16×16) strip-detector,a thick (1000μm) pixel-silicon detector with16(4×4) pixels, and an array of5cmlong (4×4) CsI (Tl) crystals which are read out by Avalanche Photo Diodes(APD).(2)We conduct the experimental tests of each part of the detector module. Based on thetests, we get the performance of the each part of the detector module, and the test results can be the reference of the further simulation of the detector.(3) Thesimulations of the single CsI(Tl), the CsI(Tl) array and the whole detector modulebased on Geant4have been carried out. According to the comparison of thesimulation results and experimental test result of the single CsI(Tl) detector, thesimulation of the detector is reliable. The design of the detector was optimized andthe whole performances of the detector module were given, based on the simulationresults. The first two chapters introduce the research background and the purpose ofdevelopment of this detector. Some theories of detector and detection technologies arealso introduced in this part. Chapter3, Chapter4and Chapter5presents the design, the experimental test and the simulation of the detector. In the finality, the problemsrequiring further studies are discussed in Chapter6.
