Pengyang and Yuanzhou where their topography belongs to loess hills, located in thesouthern part of Ningxia, is one of the most developed areas of landslide and other geologicaldisasters. Due to the incomprehensive understanding of loess landslide hazard, thedisharmony of the theoretical development and practical application and the complexity ofdisaster itself and other reasons, the harm to people’s lives and property in the two countiescaused by the landslide hazard is becoming more and more serious. As the previous study ofthe loess landslide is mostly concentrated in the landslide hazard type, genetic mechanism, prediction and prevention measures, the scientific research results of morphologicalcharacteristics of the loess landslide and landslide stability are deficient. In this thesis, takingthe loess landslide developed in the region as the research object on the basis of theinvestigation of geological hazards of county(city) and data compilation. Firstly, the regionalgeological environmental conditions of the loess landslide formed and the landslide stabilityfactors are analyzed, especially the relationship between the morphological characteristics ofthe loess landslide such as plane form, the posterior wall of the characteristics, the length andwidth, the characteristics of the front, the altitude difference of the landslide front and rearedges and the stability of the landslide is counted and analysised systematically. Then, therelationship between the geometrical morphology and stability of typical loess landslide in theregion is studied quantificationally, which provides a theoretical basis when the stability ofloess landslide is estimated preliminarily on the macro. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The loess landslide is divided into intraformational loess landslide and loess-bedrockinterface landslide, and the stability of landslide improves with the value of the posterior wallincreasing, with the value of the front rinku height decreasing and with the ratio of the heightof landslide to the altitude difference of the landslide front and rear edges increasing;(2)Through the quantitative research of the geometrical morphology and stability oftypical loess landslide, the stability factor decreases nearly linearly with the value of the frontrinku height or the ratio of the height of landslide to the value of the posterior wall increasing. When the value of posterior wall increases, the average thickness of landslide mass increases, the sliding surface slows down, the overall stability of landslide improves, but for the moment, the partial stability of the posterior wall deteriorates;(3)When the stability of loess landslide is estimated preliminarily, we should focus onthe ratio of the value of the posterior wall or the altitude difference front and rear edges oflandslide to the height of landslides and combine the front rinku height of landslide and othercontrolling factors to analysis synthetically.
