As an important branch of system theory, the gray system theory to deal with systemmodeling, forecasting, evaluation and decision-making for probloms or systems withuncertainty "small sample" or "poor" informance has been demonstrated good effects anddevelopment prospects. The VRLA battery has been widely used, there are still broadprospects for development, but is also facing great pressure and challenges:its to besolved technical difficulties, and the pressures and challenges from the progress andpromotion of other types of batteries.This paper attempts to attempts to discourse theory,methods and techniques of the charging and on-line monitoring for the battery, andpresent the research methods and results from my job.The estimating for important variablities for the battery, such as remaining capacityand polarization voltage prediction, has been a research focus in recent years, and therehave been a lot of useful research results, some are got by system identification, some bytestable variable, such as open voltage,resistance,because they are thought to bemathematically related, and predictive variable estimation are made in accordance withthe time series of the variable,however these are good or bad;and again,overallperformance assessment and decision-making of the battery in designing and applyingthe battery has important practical significance,but in the literature, few research resultsare found.For the above two points,To establish gray prediction model and gray relationaldecision model of VRLA battery, analyze and determine the correlation betweenvariables, make a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of the battery for carwith the battery are of great actual needs. Results from experimenting and processingshow that these two tasks have a certain validity, and also a certain practical significance.The introduction part of this paper introduces the research background, status andspecific content;the second chapter describes how the battery works, structure,characteristics, charging technology and on-line monitoring techniques, as well as thegray system theory;chapter3gives specific principles and methods to estimate batterycapacity,and especially focuses on new capacity calculated based on the gray systemtheory and neural network;from chapter4you will get the forecasting and processingmethods of the power supply system failure, as well ascomprehensive evaluation of thebattery in the electric vehicle industry; chapter5introduces process, architecture designand realization of the smart gray prediction charging software, brief introduction to thehardware structure of the charger system;chapter6gives problems in the experimentsand processing encountered in the process, and further looking to the future developmentof these problems and future of VRLA battery technology.
